I was delighted when Dublin Canvas Project accepted my design of Oscar Wilde for the traffic light box located in Merrion Square. I was excited about having a piece of my work in my home city, but I did not think too much about what it would be like to spend two and a half days painting on the streets of Dublin. That was the absolute highlight for me! It was amazing to stand and paint in Merrion Square and to chat to so many passers-by that were curious about the project or fans of Mr. Wilde. Dubliners stopped by to share a favourite quote and tourists asked me to pose for pictures. The first-hand feedback I got was amazing, people were so happy to see my vibrant piece of art brighten up the shabby traffic light box and were so delighted to see more art in general on the streets of our city. Kind strangers gave me lovely compliments and even bought me treats to keep me going. The experience made me fall in love with Dublin just a little bit more!
