When my turn came around for peer teaching, I decided to share some skills close to my heart. I have been making artist books and zines for years, they are one of my great passions. So much so, that I founded the Dublin Zine Fair to celebrate, support, promote and grow the independent publishing scene here in Ireland. Book craft is also a lesser used option on both the leaving and junior certificate exams. I decided to share different methods of making books from the simple to the complex. These skills would be useful to my peers not only to tackle the book craft option, but also as a method of presenting and displaying art work for themselves and their students. I brought in a small archive of my artist books and zines and some great examples from my private collection. It was a great afternoon and I was happy to share something I'm passionate about with my classmates, they told me they found it very useful and enjoyed the workshop.
