This week I was delighted to start teaching as a guest lecturer at Dublin Institute of Design. I will be there for three Monday workshops teaching a creative zine project. Zines are one of my big passions, so it is always so lovely to share that with a class of talented students. In the first workshop we covered the history of zines, their cultural relevance and why they are important today. I brought in a selection of zines from my archive for inspiration when we explored zine themes.
We created a collaborative zine during class, where they got to play with not only content but learnt about manually laying out a simple publication. They started working on making a biography zine about themselves in the classic 1 pager zine format, which we will finish next week. I'm looking forward to seeing what themes they choose to explore for their final zine. Thanks to everyone at Dublin Institute of Design for making me feel so welcome!
