Year in Review -2017

January 6, 2018

2017 was a strange year for me. I began the year in college completing my masters and finished it juggling two new jobs. I'm not going to lie it has been a hectic and very stressful time. I've spread myself so thinly, I've been so exhausted and mentally drained that during Christmas break I needed to completely switch off. I am just starting to gather plans and prepare for the year ahead. One of the things that really motivates me at the beginning of a new year is taking time to reflect on the achievements of the previous one before writing my new goals and schedules. So, here's some of my highs and lows of 2017!

-Graduated with a masters degree in art and design education from NCAD, a college I always wanted to go to!

-Started lecturing at the Dublin Institute of Design

-I got a job working as art teacher at a brand new secondary school

-Exhibited at NCAD Grad Show

-Created another street art work for the Dublin Canvas Project

-Designed two new collections for my embroidery business Rosie's Rags

-Designed a poster for The Hot Sprockets Single Launch which was advertised on billboards around Dublin

Designed a tattoo for my nephew

Did lots of gardening and grew lots of veg!

Travelled around Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia!

Lost a member of my family, Charlie the dog

Created a cross stitch necklace tutorial for Sew Magazine

Created an interactive sensory mural for St Joseph's School for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Submitted to the Hennessy Portrait Prize for the second time and was rejected for the second time

Artist Interview in Home & Interior & Living Magazine

Tutored a fantastic little boy with autism

Built a book igloo and a billion other art jobs in my role as art teacher

Reached over the 900 sales mark with my Rosie's Rags Etsy Shop

Here's to finding a better life balance in 2018, cooking more, eating better, exercising and having more time for my own creative projects!
